Callie attended school in Smackover, Arkansas. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Sweet Home Baptist Church. She was raised by her grandmother, Callie, later moved to California in 1943 at the age of 21.

After moving to Richmond, CA she united and married her childhood friend Mr. Robert Lee Clark. The two would wed in Reno, Nevada in 1944, when Callie was 22 years old. Robert and Callie remained married for 63 years until his transition in 2007.

To this union there were three children. One son, Robert Lawrence Clark, and two daughters, Dorothy Clark-Lee and Barbara Clark-Offord.

She was a member of the Gospel Choir and a member of the Mother’s Board until her health started to decline. She was also an active member of the Richmond Branch of the NAACP.

Mrs. Clark was an only child, but she considered her cousin and friend, Johnnie Ray Thompson, her sister.

Callie loved to collect pictures. She often would look through her photo albums and reminisce her past experiences, both in California and Arkansas.
