 Edith Evelyn Hasenpflug

February 4, 1921 – April 18, 2020

Born Edith Evelyn Collins on February 4, 1921 to the proud parents, James and Lilly Collins in Hazel, Oklahoma; passed away peacefully April 18, 2020 at the age of 99 in Sacramento, CA with her loving family by her side.

Edith raised in Oklahoma and came to California at the age of 18. Living in the Bay Area for some time. She was a Rosie the Riveter, working in the ship-yards during World War II; a Teamster; and later part owner of Hasenpflug Top Soil. During her time spent here, she became the proud mother of three. First born was Glenda; 14 years later came Jerry Dean and a year or so after, baby Sandra was born.  Edith eventually moved to Clear Lake, where she became a member of Moose Lodge #1691, Fraternal Order of Eagles #4075 and went back to school at age 57 to get her Real Estate License and sold Real Estate until retiring at the age of 78. Retiring was bitter sweet, although Edith still had the will to be active and sell property; she retired to care for her ailing daughter, Glenda, whom preceded her in death on Christmas 1998.

After the passing of her eldest daughter, Edith remained a “family-first” type of woman. Always caring for them and making her family her top priority. She now leaves her son, Jerry Dean Hinkle, daughter, Sandra Cargle; grandchildren, Rachelle Noland (grandson-in-law, Jacob), Tara Loomis (grandson-in-law, Jason) and great-grandson, Logan Loomis to cherish her memory. Edith was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Noland.

A message from daughter, Sandra: My Mother was passionate about her family, devoted all the way. She was a kind and compassionate lady whose favorite pastime was dancing.  And that's what she did. She danced through Life smiling:)

Edith will be greatly missed, but will live on forever in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
