George Henry Hunt - The Gentle Giant
George Hunt, Jr., was born August 14, 1926 in Gloster, MS to the late George (Jack) and Mada Bell Hunt. He was the eldest of the three children. George was educated at Amite County Training School, where he was a star football player- nicknamed Snag, because of how he snagged the ball. After graduation, George served in the Coast Guard until he was honorably discharged.
After Military life, George settled down in Oakland, CA. There, he met the love of his life, Mary Evelyn Eglin. The two were united in Holy matrimony on October 29, 1956. Their union was blessed with three children - Stanley Thomas and Tamara Lea, and Jeneil Annette.
George’s hobbies included playing softball on the Carrol Club Team, fishing in his boat, and listening to all kinds of music....he was also known for “cut’n a rug,” too. He faithfully attended Acts Full Gospel Church, where he gave his life to Christ. After moving to Atlanta, GA, he continued to faithfully attend Acts Full Gospel Church, virtually.
