Jackie Donald Thorn

8/13/1936 – 1/11/2021

Jackie Donald Thorn, of Hercules, California, passed away at home on January 11, 2021, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family. Jackie was born to Aubrey and Martha Thorn in Tioga, Texas, where he grew up with his twin brother and three other siblings.  When Jackie was in his early twenties, he started dating the love of his life, Kathryne (Kitty) Wilson, and they married on October 15, 1959.  Soon after their marriage, they moved to California and settled in the Bay Area where they raised four children while Jackie ran his own successful painting company, Jackie Thorn Painting. 

Jackie worked hard and lived with a purpose and intention to do well and support his family.  No matter what, we could always depend on him, and we will miss his joy, laughter, smile, humor, good stories and love.  Jackie also enjoyed visiting with his many friends while engaging in a good conversation along with a good cigar.  He will be missed very much by everyone.

Jackie is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 61 years, Kitty Thorn, of Hercules; son, Paul Thorn (Audrey) of Hercules; daughter-in-law, Stacy Jennings of Concord; grandsons, Gary, Christian & Blaze Thorn, and Jonathan Rodriguez; granddaughters, Valarie and Jade Thorn; great-granddaughter, Violet Oliver; sister, Evelyn Wilson of Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.  One of the most difficult things in life is to out-live your children, and sadly, Jackie was predeceased by his adored daughter, Tamara Rodriguez (2005) and two beloved sons, Gary (1975) and Jimmy (2015) Thorn.  They’re now together, once again.

A private burial will take place on January 21st, and once we’re safe from the pandemic, a celebration of life gathering will be held to honor this wonderful man.
