Mr. James Estel Horn

April 22, 1933 – August 17, 2021

James E. Horn was born April 22, 1933 in Arkansas to the late Estel & Ora Horn. James was the eldest of three children. The family moved to Richmond, CA in 1943 when James was just 10 years old. Growing up during the era of the Great Depression pushed James to start working at a young age, he was a well-known paperboy in the area and after graduating from Richmond High during World War II, James went straight to work for Cutter Laboratories. James rose quickly through the company, reaching management and retiring after 46 years. In his younger days, James was adventurous. He was a pilot at young age, and he would later serve his country by joining the National Guard. Meeting the love of his life, Radonna Light in 1960… the two took their relationship to new heights when they decided to face a fierce snowstorm and headed up the mountain to get married February 15, 1962. From this union James would gain his first son, Lindon Lee Horn and the family continued to grow with the birth of second son, James Kevin Horn. James was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. Known for his dry and sarcastic humor, James could be bit hard headed but as the years went on, he became more open, expressing his love and sharing his memories with the family.

At the age of 88, James passed away August 17, 2021 in El Sobrante, CA.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Radonna Horn; sons, Lindon Lee Horn (wife, Jeanette) and James Kevin Horn; two grandsons, Lee (wife, Felisa) and Kellan Horn; two great-grandsons, Austin and Hunter Horn; two sisters, Barbara Swanson and Nina Ornelas as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
