      Jewel Marie Champion entered this life on June 17th 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas to the proud parents Alfred and Mary champion. Her family later relocated to California. In her early years she attended stege and went on to graduate from El Cerrito high school. She began working with the elderly providing in home care services she was a natural at this and truly enjoyed it, making each patient feel loved and special. Aside from this she also loved to cook enjoyed feeding everyone.

Jewel joined Mount Zion spiritual temple under the leadership of King Narisse. She was a faithful and dedicated member eager to serve the lord.

Jewel joined the eastern star in June 1988 as a member of King Obbie lodge.

Jewel was also an active member of the red hat society.

Jewel loved her family/friends she loved having bible study with her prayer group via telephone or in person. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family especially her daughter and grandchildren who brought her so much joy. Mickey as she called her was her best friend those two together was all love and laughter a one of a kind bond. Getting pampered by Jackie aka den-den as she would call her she loved those mani/pedis. And of course she loved money and the casino and did not want you standing over her as she played her slots.

Jewel transitioned peacefully 03/05/21. She is preceded by her two sons Michael Emerson and Thomas (Tookie) walker son in love Landrin Ray Kelly.

Jewell leaves to mourn her transition her daughter Mary Kelly, Son Julius Waker Jr., Brother James Brown

Bonus children; Talya (Gearld) Patterson, George Stan Mitchell, Cynthia (Charles) Prescott, Angie B. Caldwell. Special god daughter Lucy (Michael) Runnels. 18 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
