Remembering Marjie…
Marjorie Dansby was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on July 25, 1945 to the proud parents of Curvin and Essie Butler. She was the seventh child born in a family of eight, consisting of two brothers and five sisters.
Marjorie graduated from Oakland Technical High School and later attended Oakland School of Dental, Merritt College CNA Healthcare Program, and The School of Stand for Domestic Violence where she began counseling in that field. She obtained Degrees in all studies.
Marjorie later met and married Leonard Ray Shaw in 1964, from this union one loving daughter was born, Zania Shaw-Posey. She remarried Bobby Ray Dansby in 1985. “Grand-mommy”, as she was affectionately called by her loving three grandchildren Sharday Hinton, Christian Posey, and Taraji Chatman. Marjorie was also a God-mother to Simone Beauford, Taft, Quamesha and Taft Bradley Jr.
After thirty-eight years of service, Marjorie retired from the U.S. Postal Service located in Oakland, Ca. She then attended Ministries School of Samaritan Way, School of Biblical Studies and received an Associate Degree June 12, 2011. Marjorie was an Ordained Christian Minister June 25, 2017, and continued to Preach the Word of God at True Foundation Ministries until her death.
Marjorie Dansby departed this life on June 8, 2021, and was preceded in death by her parents Curvin and Essie Butler, her brothers Fred and Lawrence Butler, her sisters Irma Jean Lewis, Pearlene Smith, and Bonnie Hill.
She leaves to mourn her passing: Daughter, Zania Shaw-Posey; grandchildren, Sharday, Christian and Taraji; sisters, Doristean DeCuir and Juanita Alexander; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
