Mrs Mary Alice Short

Born Mary Alice Ball June 14, 1948 in San Francisco, CA. She was the fifth of seven children, to Charles and Pauline Ball. The family lived in the Bay Area and Contra Costa County all of Mary’s life. After graduating, Mary was a Housewife for many years, before becoming a Machine Operator with Harbor Plastics for 19 years. Besides being a hard worker, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Affectionately called “Nana” or “Aunt Mary” by not only her grandchildren or nieces and nephews, but by those who loved and respected her dearly.

Mary loved spending time with her family and friends, camping, dancing and taking long rides with husband, Robert on his motorcycle.

Celebrating her life, are husband Robert Short (married 22 years); children, Little Jack, Jeff (wife, Cathleen), Jesse (wife, Jamie), Tanya and Alicia Knight, Michelle and Rita Short, and Gina Errico;  twenty-six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. As well, as a host of many Nieces, Nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pauline Ball; siblings, Betty, Etta Ann, Charles Jr., Tommie, Jimmy and Donna, son Jack Grover Knight III and grandson Robert "Bubba" Fitch.

Mary passed away June 20, 2020, one week after celebrating her 72nd birthday.

She was surrounded by her loving family.

“She never had a bad thing to say about anybody”
