Mr Ovdise Taylor

March 16, 1925 ~ October 7, 2021 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Tribute

Ovdise T. Taylor was born to Kelly and Maggie Taylor on March 16, 1925, in Mount Herman, Louisiana.  He was one of seven children with 2 brothers and 4 sisters.  He attended church service with his family as a young child and accepted Christ into his life at an early age.  He attended school in Mount Herman during his formative years and graduated from Vernon High School.  After graduation “O.T”, as he was fondly known, enlisted in the United States Navy serving 4 years during WWII.  He received an Honorable Discharge after completing his years of service for the United States.

O.T. returned to his home state of Louisiana where he met and married the love of his life Marie McKay in 1952.  They relocated to California establishing their residence in San Francisco in 1956.

O.T and Marie are the proud parents of 8 children Ray who preceded him in death, Gilda, Darnetta, Howard, Wade, Terry, Marion and Ordice.  He Loved his adorable wife whom he affectionately called “Polly” and “Mar rie” and he was “Taylor” to her.  They had a very beautiful, special bond.  He was a proud man and always happy. He enjoyed taking the family fishing and some of the most memorable times for his children is during their childhood years he would get everyone into the back of the truck and take them to the annual county fair in Pleasanton. He loved his family, and his happiest times were having his children and their families over for gatherings at his home.  He really enjoyed going to the racetrack and watching the horse races.

O.T.  was a hardworking man working two jobs for several years first as a custodian at The Presidio of San Francisco then taking a second job as a Fueler for Airplanes with United Airlines at the San Francisco International Airport.  He would eventually continue with his job at United Airlines and be entrusted with the responsibility of the Lead Fueler position supervising other employees and worked this position until he retired after 44 years of dedicated service to the airline industry.

O.T. was very proud but also humble.  Marie his lifelong companion in life was unwavering, tireless, and dedicated in her care for “Taylor” and he expressed his gratefulness for the love and care that she showed him.

As his physical health failed his spirit was steadfast. Through intercession of prayer Ovdise T. Taylor confirmed his dedication of his life to Christ.

He fought the good fight; he finished his course, and he kept the faith. On Thursday, October 7, 2021, during the early morning hours as he slept, the Spirit of the Lord embraced O.T and the Lord Blessed him with Heavenly Peace and Eternal Rest.

O.T. will truly be missed.  He leaves to cherish his Memory and Legacy his Loving and Devoted wife Marie Taylor.  Four daughters:  Gilda Vaughn (Alton – Preceded in Death); Darnetta Henry (Ronnie); Terry Russell (Joseph); Marion Diggs (Timothy); Four sons:  Kennon Ray McKay (Preceded in Death); Howard Taylor (Joan); Wade Taylor (Jeanette); Ordice Taylor (Shirley); 19 Grand Children and 20 Great Grandchildren; Sister Alee Brumfield of Franklinton, Louisiana; Brother-In-Law Johnny McKay and Sister-in-Law Jean McKay of North Las Vegas, Nevada, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.
