Jesse Chao

The sun rose and the world welcomed Jesse Chao on June 8, 1992 in Richmond, CA. On March 5, 2023, as the sun set in Albany, CA, Jesse Chao took his final breath. The sudden tragedy has left our family heartbroken, devastated, and in disbelief. 

Jesse Chao was born to Ching Saechao and Seng Poo Saechao on June 8, 1992 in Richmond, CA. As a child Jesse was always obedient and a charismatic child. Jesse was adventurous, loved traveling, willing to try something new and loved performing in front of big crowds since high school. 

Growing up, Jesse lived with his Uncle Sahn Pou Saechao and Fahm Saeteurn in Richmond, CA and their children. Jesse attended Richmond High School and graduated in 2010. Jesse went on to attend Contra Costa College where he pursued his passion in music. Jesse joined JAZZ-ology and performed locally, around the country and internationally. Jesse last performed with JAZZ-ology on the group’s 4-concert tour of jazz clubs in France, in June 2022. The group and its entourage celebrated Jesse’s 30th birthday together in Paris. 

Jesse Chao will always be remembered for his heart-warming smile and contagious laughter. Jesse was a loving son, brother, cousin, nephew and uncle.

Our lives will never be the same without Jesse in it, but he has left us with memories we will cherish forever and he will continue to live on through us. We love you Jesse and may you rest in peace.

Jesse Chao is survived by his father - Ching Saechao, mother - Seng Poo Saechao, brothers - Joey Chao and Andrew Saephanh, sisters - Priscilla, Becky and Jade Saephanh, his nephew - Emrys Dawn Demetrios, and his nieces - Olivia Saephanh and Roslyn Rain Demetrios. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
