Mary Jimenez was born June 15, 1922, passing away at age 96 on May 19 2009. She had three sisters, Beatrice, Jenny and Elsie. She also had three brothers, Henry, Joe and Jesse. Mary loved all of her siblings very much. She resided in Richmond most of her life. Sadly, she lived her last three years of her life in a nursing home in Clear Lake. She passed away in her peaceful sleep which I know she would have wanted that way. Mary was a beautiful, wonderful, loving wife to Reynaldo Jimenez whom she loved so dearly. Together they shared three children, two daughters, Irene and Karen and one son Reynaldo, after his father. Mary had 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. If Mary was to tell this to anyone, she’d say “YUP, well that makes me the hostess with the mostess.”
My name is Casandra Martinez and my great grandmother raised me since birth. I can tell you from growing up with her that she loved her family to the moon and back, mostly with tough love, but it was unconditional no doubt. I am very blessed and thankful to have spent every day and moment with her, through good times and bad times. Nevertheless, it was the greatest gift from God to have had her, such a beautiful, strong, independent woman to raise me. Mary loved to go out to her clubs and get dressed up. She loved looking her best always. She also loved to cook and was a really good dancer. She also had a love and passion for her garden, beautiful flowers everywhere is what she had to have. Her sisters shared that same desire for their gardens. You can say Mary lived a long, blessed and beautiful life.
Until we meet again,
Casandra
