Thum Karnsouvong

Thum Karnsouvong was a lifelong farmer and carpenter in Laos, passed away on April 9th, 2022 at the age of 106 years old at Kaiser hospital in Vallejo, CA.

Thum is survived by her nephews; Chris Khamvong Karnsouvong, Khambang Karnsouvong, and Khamvieng Karnsouvong; and nieces; Pamthid Karnsouvong, Angie Sengsouvang, Bouahak Karnsouvong and Jennifer Karnsouvong.

Thum was born in Ban Phousoong, Laos on May 5, 1915, to Vourgh and Hrueng Karnsouvong. Thum was married to Lotch at a young age and was later divorced. She was a mother of 3 children; 2 daughters and 1 son who lost their lives at a very early age due to health complications. Thum fled her country in 1978 during the Vietnam war with her younger brother Boonthong Karnsouvong and his family. They arrived in the United States in November 1980 living in Richmond, CA, and lived here since then. When she settled in the U.S. she took care of her grandchildren so their parents can work and provide for their families. She was a loving devoted grandmother who never stopped caring for her grandchildren.

Thum was loved by many people. She was sweet, and humble and always made everyone laugh and smile. She will be deeply missed by her families, friends, and all who knew her.
